The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced cash reward for the medalists of recent Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Asian Beach Games.
IOA President N. Ramachandran announced the same while briefing media at the end of the Executive Council meeting in Chennai.
"The executive committee recommended to the IOA AGM (Annual General Meeting) that for all the medal winners in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Asian Beach Games, and each athlete who won gold will get three lakh each, athlete who won silver will get two lakh and each athlete who won a bronze medal will get one lakh each," said Ramachandran.
The IOA would also provide annual grant of rupees three lakh for each National Sports Federation and State Olympic Association.

"The IOA took a decision that each National Sports Federation will be given three lakhs per year and the State Olympic Association will also receive three lakhs per year," added Ramachandran.
Ramachandran also said these bodies would receive special funding from the IOA in view of decreasing grants to them by the government.
Kerala will host the National Games of India 2015 in January and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the event.
The IOA president also announced the country will host the next South Asian Games (SAF) in December 2015.
Ramachandran said he was happy that woman boxer L. Sarita Devi's ban was only for one year, thanks to the efforts of both IOA and the government and now she can participate in the qualification phase for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Devi has been banned for one year by the world governing body International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) for her petulant behaviour at the Asian Games in October.
