Condemning the incident of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA pulling up a woman IPS officer publicly, the Indian Police Service (Central) Association on Monday called out for suitable punishment in order to enable the police to protect the people.
The IPS (Central) Association took to its official Twitter handle to give out a stern and clear message.
"Condemn incident against ASP #Gorakhpur. If interference in law enforcement goes unpunished, ability of police to protect people gets eroded," it tweeted.
Circle officer Charu Nigam was at the receiving end of BJP MLA Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal for removing some people protesting against a liquor shop, which the minister had otherwise told to stay put till his arrival.
In the video, the MLA can be seen shouting at the woman IPS officer.
