Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Monday approached the Ministry of Home Affairs in connection with the alleged rape case registered against him in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar police station.

The IPS officer had earlier stated that he would move the MHA against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for conspiring against him as the rape charge came a day after he alleged that Mulayam had threatened him.

The IPS officer has earlier said that he wants security and the CBI to probe the matter, after he released an audio in which Mulayam was purportedly threatening him.

"Mulayam Singh had no right or authority to threaten me. We are going to Delhi today to take our matter with Home Ministry. We want a CBI inquiry into this and want some security," Thakur told ANI.

"Why should I quit my service? There is no reason for me to do so," he added.

The IPS officer's wife has also been accused of taking part in the conspiracy.

The woman had lodged a similar case against the IPS officer on December 31, 2014. But then, the case had not been registered against him.
