A senior Iranian sports official has recently announced that the country's authorities have partially lifted a ban on women to attend men's sports matches, a report said.
Iranian Deputy Sports Minister, Abdolhamid Ahmadi, said that Iran's State Security Council had approved that women and family could now attend some sports events, but warned that they were still forbidden to watch all matches, News24 reported.
However, Iran has allowed foreign women to attend matches of their national teams.
Earlier this year, FIFA president, Sepp Blatter had urged Iran to lift the ban on women and allow them to watch football matches in stadium.
Women have been banned from attending men's sports matches since 1979 revolution that brought hard-line Islamic clerics to power.
