Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said he wants to reach an agreement with world powers over the country's nuclear programme within three to six months.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will meet the United States Secretary John Kerry as well as diplomats from Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany to hold talks on the nuclear issue, in first-of-its-kind meeting between top American and Iranian officials, Dawn News reports.
Earlier, President Barack Obama challenged Rouhani to take concrete steps toward resolving the issue at the UN.
U.S. and its allies believe Tehran wants to build its capability for making nuclear bombs.
However, Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful civilian energy purposes only.
