Iraqi government forces have said that they have secured the country's largest oil refinery by foiling attacks launched by the militants on Saturday. Several militants have been killed in the process.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is suspected of carrying the attack, reported the BBC.
The Baiji refinery in northern Iraq has been the target of several attacks by the ISIS in the past because it accounts for about a third of Iraq's total oil output.
The group has seized control of large swathes of territory in Iraq including oil-producing areas.
