The Islamic State (IS) has reportedly acquired enough radioactive material from government facilities in the areas captured by it in recent months that it could develop a 'large and dirty' bomb, Australian intelligence reports have warned.
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said that the NATO countries had expressed deep concern about the materials seized by the terror outfit from research centres and hospitals that were previously available to governments, reported The Independent.
The IS also announced its plans to produce weapons of mass destruction in the most recent edition of its propaganda magazine, Dabiq.
The Indian defence officials, too, had warned of the possibility of the terror group obtaining a nuclear weapon from Pakistan.
The news came at a time when experts warned that the terror group will be more active than ever to mark the start of Ramazan and the one-year anniversary of its declaration of a "caliphate".
