ANI New Delhi [India]

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday successfully launched the GSLV-F08 carrying the GSAT-6A communication satellite from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota.

Today's launch has added another feather in ISRO's cap for mastering the technique of making home-made communication satellites.

Providing mobile communication to India through multi-beam coverage facility, is a key feature of the satellite.

According to ISRO, two improvements have been made in the rocket's second stage, namely, induction of high thrust engine and electro-mechanical actuation system.

The GSLV rocket which lifted the communications satellite has been named as 'Naughty Boy' by ISRO scientists as it had a rough record, with five of its 11 flights ending in failure.

The twin of the GSAT-6A satellite, GSAT- 6, was launched in 2015.
