Indian shooter Ankur Mittal clinched his first World Cup gold medal by defeating Australian James Willet in the finals of the men's double trap event at the at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Indian shot the score of 75 out of possible 80 points in the six-man final to finish ahead of Willet (73 points) on Day three of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Ying Qui of China settled for the bronze medal with an overall score of 52 before being eliminated after 60 targets in the finals.
Earlier, Ankur ended second in the qualification round with a score of 138 out of a possible 150 to book his place in the summit showdown.
It should be noted that Ankur had won silver in the same event at last month's World Cup in New Delhi, where Australia's Willett bagged gold with a world record score of 75.
The tournament in Acapulco will now witness medal events in the Men's and Women's skeet shooting disciplines over the weekend.
