Indian shooter Pooja Ghatkar made the country proud on Friday as she clinched the bronze medal in the women's 10m Air Rifle event here at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup.
The 28-year-old, who won the gold medal at the Asian Air Gun Championship in 2014, shot a score of 228.8 to finish third in the finals and clinch her first medal at a shooting World Cup.
China's Mengyao Shi bagged the gold medal and set a new world record with a score of 252.1, while Dong Lijie settled for silver by posting an overall score of 248.9 in the finals.
Ghatkar, who had narrowly missed out on winning a quota berth for the 2016 Rio Olympics, will now aim to keep this momentum going all the way to Tokyo 2020.
Earlier in the day, Rio Olympics hopeful Jitu Rai of India failed to recover from a first 10 shots score of 89 to miss out on a finals berth by a point in the Men's 50m Pistol event.
