Income Tax officials have seized Rs 2.56 crore from the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmaker Naresh Balyan.

The raids, which commenced on Friday evening, are underway for nearly six hours and expected to continue overnight.

Speaking about the raids, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj told ANI: "We have not had a word with Naresh as of now, so I cannot on what has exactly happened and why is he being probed. However, as soon as we come in contact with him, we would throw light on this."

"Recently, IT raided our Chhatarpur legislator Kartar Tawar on around 11-12 of his locations, a lot of news reports were run but nothing happened after that," Bhardwaj concluded.

In October last year, the Income Tax department raided 16 properties of Delhi Transport Minister and AAP leader Kailash Gehlot.

Among the properties raided were Gehlot's residence and companies like Brisk Infrastructure and Developers Ltd and Corporate International Financial Services Ltd, which belong to the AAP leader.
