Salman Rushdie, who is apparently fascinated by the mask-wearing band 'Pussy Riot' and their continuing dispute with the Russian government, has revealed that when he was hiding from Islamic extremists, disguises weren't an option.

'The Satanic Verses' author said at the Cinema Society premiere of HBO Documentary Films' 'Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer' that he thinks that mask has been a useful device because it's kept a lot of them out of jail, the New York Daily News reported.

He also said that his name's on his books, so it doesn't matter if he wears a mask or not.
