Experts have revealed that eating rice is safe despite small levels of arsenic present in them.

The study by US Food and Drug Administration looked for arsenic in 1,300 samples of rice and rice products, and showed shows varying levels, with the most arsenic in brown rice and the least in instant rice, News24 reported.

The agency, which is still studying long-term effects of consuming rice, said that the amounts are so small that rice is safe to eat.

The agency has long encouraged consumers to vary their diets to minimize risk.
