An evacuation operation for an Italian ferry that caught fire while travelling from Greece to Italy carrying 478 people has been hampered due to strong winds and one person has died.
In all, 190 people have been rescued but around 280 still remain on the Norman Atlantic, reported BBC.
Officials said that one person died as he tried to jump from the ship and one has been injured.
The night-time rescuing is being hampered by choppy seas and strong winds.
Officials said that most of the people belonged to Greece while many came on the ferry from Italy, Turkey, Albania, Germany and some other countries.
