A bus carrying over 50 passengers from Nowshera to Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir was swept away by the flash floods today.
Jammu Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu told ANI, "There was a bus carrying marriage party which was going from Nowshera to Rajouri. In a place called Lam, they were washed away by flash floods. There were initial three survivors. As per their statements, there were more than 50 passengers inside the bus which fell deep down the gorge."
He added, "Our rescue team is very much there, the army is there, we are trying to recover the bus and the passengers. So far due to bad weather and the depth of the gorge, we are not able to take them out."
The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu also indicated his fear about the chances of passengers lives in danger because of bad weather and the depth of the gorge.
"There is very much a likelihood of that, but unless we recover everything, we cannot say," he added.
Meanwhile ,a flood alert has been sounded after two days of incessant rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, where most of the rivers are flowing above the danger mark. At least 12 people have died due to the flood.
