J-K: Devotees celebrate annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Fakur-u-din Sahib

The devotees in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Thursday celebrated annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Fakur-u-din Sahib.

Women and children paid obeisance and offered special prayers at the shrine which resounded with recitations of verses of Holy Quran. The annual Urs was celebrated according to Islamic or Lunar Calendar.

It is bestowed with religious wealth in the form of numerous shrines.

There are numerous sepulchres of saints which have enchanting environs.

One can feel close proximity of Almighty while visiting these shrines.

The Shrine is always filled with devotees paying their obeisance. The message of this Sufi saint was to spread peace and prosperity among all communities.

 

According to Islamic scholars, the Sufi saint has come from Balkh city of Iran, centuries ago to spread message of Islam and settled here.

He was the preacher of Sufism and mutual brotherhood and conveyed message of humanity and high traditions in Kashmir.
