The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) may soon reach a deal on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, say reports.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier stated that the next government in the state will be on the basis of a common minimum programme.

Governor's rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly elections in the state threw a fractured verdict, with no party able to win the required number of seats to form the government.

Last month, a fractured verdict in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections left no party with a clear majority. The highest number of seats was won by the PDP, but the party with 28 seats fell well short of the 44 seats required to form the government.
