J&K: One killed in army firing in Shopian

One person was killed and several others were injured in a firing, after an army patrol party came under heavy stone pelting from a mob in Shopian's Ganowpora village in South Kashmir on Saturday.

Due to this, tensions have escalated in the area and clashes are still on.

The incident comes days after two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Dairoo's Chaigund area in Shopian on Wednesday.

Their bodies have been recovered by the security forces as well. The slain terrorists were later identified as locals.

A local boy was also killed in the ensuing crossfire, while two women sustained injuries.
