Police on Monday detained eight terrorists involved in a conspiracy to snatch weapons from police personnel.

The eight terrorists, accomplices from the areas of Baramulla, Tangmarg, and Srinagar, were detained on the basis of credible input that some terrorists were framing a criminal conspiracy by stealing weapons from police personnel.

As per a statement issued by the police, incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the terrorists.

"We've detained eight persons involved in a conspiracy to snatch weapons from police personnel. An FIR has been registered and the investigation is underway. Incriminating evidence has been found and arms and ammunition were recovered from them," DIG North Kashmir, Atul Kumar Goel told ANI.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under section 18 (criminal evidence) and section 38 UA (P) Act (unlawful activities) in Tangmarg Police Station.

Further investigation is underway in the matter.
