Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department and Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held a conclave to chalk out strategies to attract tourists to the state.

Around 1500 tour operators, hoteliers and members of IATO participated in the conclave held in Srinagar on Tuesday.

The state tourism department expressed concerns over the negative stories on Kashmir doing the rounds in the media.

"I would say that the negative publicity through different mediums created an impression that there is a flood like situation here. There is nothing like that. Moreover, even after it we are trying to break

such negative things and to keep it away from the minds of people. We are hopeful that the season this year will be great," said Director of Department of Tourism Farooq Shah.

"We have named this visit as, 'Back to paradise'. I would say, there are some international channels which create a negative image which make people think that it is not safe to visit," said IATO President Subhash Goel.

The state government expects to attract tourists to Asia's largest tulip garden in Kashmir, which will remain open to the general public till April end.

The garden has over one hundred varieties of the flower of different colours spread over 12 hectares.
