A widow, named Zareena Bibi, who belongs to the Mansar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, finally got a roof on her head thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

Zareena with her four kids stayed in tents for more than a decade.

Zareena's name was among the 291 houses constructed for the poor masses in Udhampur district.

"I was living with my four kids in tents for 10-12 years. Before that I was living in a temporary house, which got damaged in a mud slide. I always dreamt of having my own house however there was no scope since my husband is dead and I am very poor," Zareena told ANI.

"I work as a domestic helper and even sometimes begged to earn livelihood. I want to thank Prime Minister for giving us a home. Now my children can study peacefully without having any fear of weather," she added.

Block development officer, Udhampur, Rupali Vaid said they have achieved maximum target of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

"We have achieved maximum target. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is self-monitoring the scheme," Vaid said.
