The locals in Rajasthan's Jaipur city on Friday expressed their anger over the latest increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, saying it would put a lot of burden on the common man.

"We use tractors and we don't have any other source of income. The government reduced the price by Rs. 1 and then increases it by Rs. 3," said Satish Kumar Sharma, a local resident.

"This will put a lot of burden on the common man. There should be control on the rates of fuel," said Pradeep Malik, another local resident.

The price of petrol and diesel has been hiked by Rs 3.96 per litre and Rs 2.37 per litre respectively, effective from April 30 midnight.

Now, petrol will cost Rs 63.16 per litre in Delhi, Rs 70.44 in Kolkata, Rs 70.84 in Mumbai and Rs 66.08 in Chennai. For diesel, the consumer will have to pay Rs 49.57 for a litre in Delhi, Rs 54.17 in Kolkata, Rs 56.87 in Mumbai and Rs 52.76 in Chennai.
