Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said that the Congress would do far better than what the polls are predicting.
Jairam Ramesh also ruled out a magnificient performance by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Lok Sabha elections as predicted by the exit polls.
"The Congress will do far better than what the polls are predicting and the BJP will not do as magnificiently as the polls are predicting," said Ramesh.
Polls showed the BJP and its allies would touch the half-way mark in the 543-member in the Lok Sabha of the parliament.
Ramesh also added that opinion polls and the exit polls will be proved wrong as they proved wrong in the past general elections of 2004 and 2009.
"The opinion polls and the exit polls will be proved wrong as they were in 2004 and 2009 as the hype of the BJP will not be matched by the results and the epitaph for Congress will not be matched by the results," he added.
