Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday expressed hope that the Insurance Amendments Bill will be passed during the Winter Session of Parliament.
"We took a firm decision on insurance. I do hope that the Insurance Amendments will be passed in the next session of Parliament," Jaitley said at a press conference here.
The bill to hike the FDI limit has been pending in the Rajya Sabha since 2008.
The bill could not be passed in the Budget Session because of the stiff resistance from the various opposition parties which eventually led the bill being referred to a Select Committee of Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government reportedly last month moved as many as 97 amendments to the original bill.
