Former Delhi Gurdwara Managing Committee chief and president of Akali Dal Delhi, Paramjit Singh Sarna has said that Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh needs no certificate from people like Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Amritsar, Arun Jaitley, whose hands are stained with betrayal and the blood of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims.
He lashed out at Jaitley for his 'hypocritical breast beating' over the Tytler statement, saying, "Jaitley has no moral right to say anything on the issue, as his hands are equally stained with the blood of riot victims as he was the Union Law Minister in 2002, tried to bail out several RSS and BJP workers involved in the anti-Sikh riots of 1984".
In a statement issued, Sarna pointed out that Captain Amarinder Singh had proved his sincerity and commitment towards his religion, whether he was in the Congress or any other party.
"There is hardly any parallel to his sacrificing the parliamentary seat and a political career when he resigned in protest against Operation Bluestar in 1984", Sarna said about Singh, asking Badal to quote one single example of such sacrifice he may have ever made.
He said contrary to that Badal betrayed the Sikh panth by giving his approval for the Operation Bluestar and went into hiding with his guilty conscience.
The Akali leader also said Jaitley had no moral right to question Singh's commitment to the Sikh community.
Sarna said, when Jaitley was the Union Law Minister, he facilitated the BJP move to bail out RSS and BJP workers against whom 46 FIRs were registered for anti-Sikh riots.
"And now, you are beating your breast just on a single statement of Captain Amarinder Singh that he did not hear Tytler's name," he asked Jaitley.
