Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake has failed to break world's fastest man Usain Bolt's record in men's 150 metres dash despite winning the race at the Great City Games in Manchester on Saturday.

Blake finished the race in 14.71 seconds, followed by compatriot Kemar Baily Cole in 15.00 seconds.

According to the BBC, Blake, who is returning from an injury, said that it was not a good day but to have an injury-free race is good.

The world's second fastest man and the 2011 110-metre world champion crossed the finishing line in Manchester in the first place but was slightly behind from beating Bolt's world best of 14.35 seconds that was set in 2009.

Blake, who missed most of last season with a hamstring injury, said that he did not get to warm up properly ahead of the race, but added that he would not use that as an excuse.
