Australian Test bowler Mitchell Johnson's long-time friend and Queensland captain James Hopes has said that confidence is all the bowler needs to be back to his best and he can be great again with good form in the current Ashes series.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Johnson, whose confidence bottomed out in recent Ashes series, roared back to life with nine wickets and 103 runs in a man-of-the-match-winning effort in Australia's 381-run drubbing at the Gabba.

In 2009, he was named the ICC Cricketer of the Year and Hopes believes Johnson can return to that form to have a major impact on the remaining four Ashes Tests, the report said.

Hopes said that he does not think it is right to call Johnson's stunning return to Test cricket a transformation, and it is just about getting his confidence back to where it was and that was bowling fast.

The Queensland captain added that Johnson can have a huge impact on the current Ashes series.
