Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday said that the merger of the Janata Parivar has entered its final stage, adding that Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would soon make an announcement on the same.
"Janata Parivar has been merged and has entered its final stage. Mulayam Singh ji will make an announcement soon," Lalu told the media.
Meanwhile, SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that the BJP is scared of the merger, as the emergent party would be the biggest national party.
"It looks like the BJP is really scared. They don't want us to merge, because if we do, we will be the biggest national party. The Janata Parivar is good to go. The name, flag and the party symbol have been decided upon," he told ANI.
Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said that the merger of the Janata Parivar would take place very soon, adding that Mulayam would hold talks with JD (S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda and INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala in this regard.
The move to bring together the Janata outfits as a counterweight to the BJP had been conceived in the aftermath of their debacle in the Lok Sabha elections.
