Janata Parivar merger: Mulayam Singh to head new party

Name of party, symbol and flag will be decided after taking into consideration views of presidents of all six parties, says Sharad Yadav

Leaders of the six parties involved in the Janata Parivar merger on Wednesday unanimously declared Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav as the head of the new front.

"It has been unanimously decided that Mulayam Singh Yadav ji will be the President of new political group," said Janta Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav.

"The name of party, symbol and flag will be decided after taking into consideration views of presidents of all six parties," he added.

In order to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP, six parties from the Janata Parivar have decided to come together and form a new political front.

 

The six parties, which have come together are Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP), Om Prakash Chautala's Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Janata Dal (Secular) led by former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP).
