Indian ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap produced a rich vein of form as he marched into the main draw of the men's singles event of Japan Super Series after registering two successive victories here at Nippon Badminton Association on Tuesday.
The Commonwealth Games champion won the opening round of the qualifiers after his opponent David Obernosterer of Austria retired hurt while lagging 3-11.
Kashyap then swept aside Denmark's Anders Antonsen in straight games to set up an opening round clash with fellow Indian Kidambi Srikanth.
The 30-year-old registered a 21-18, 21-12 win over fourth-seeded Antonsen in the second round of the qualifiers that lasted for 42 minutes.
Meanwhile, in the women's singles qualifiers, India's Tanvi Lad's hopes of making it to the main draw were shattered after she went down 21-19, 18-21, 9-21 against Chisato Hoshi of Japan.
