Japan promotes tourism with more tourist-friendly initiatives

Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial Museum is a major tourist attraction in Japan. Established by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. in June 1994, the aim was to give youngsters the opportunity to expand their dreams as they move into the future by experiencing science and technology.

A robot called "Wakamaru" welcome the visitors at the entrance.

There are many model planes, ships and real parts of rocket at the museum.

The concept of this museum is to give the youngsters an opportunity to explore their hidden talent in science and technology.

In Ocean zone, the visitors can get on board a futuristic deep-sea research vessel and take on the challenge of the deepest seas.

 

In Aerospace Zone, the flight challenge gives the visitors an experience of flying a plane. It grabs the interest of mothers and fathers too. And the most popular exhibit is its "Mission Lab".

A tourist here expressed his delighted after the visiting the museum.

"We went to the moon," he said.

In Mission Lab, the participants use the board item and work together to design the Lunar Resource Mining Vessel called "Dodekatron".

After the design stage, they pilot the completed Dodekatron to mine resources from the moon.

While seeing the vast and wild landscape of the moon, a boy said that he wants to be an astronaut.

"We run the museum for 20 years. So, some adult visitors say 'I came here when I was a school kid'. And they are actually working in technological industry now. We are so happy to see such kind of people," said Toshiki Noso, Director, Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial Museum.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) is making a long-term effort to promote and increase the number of foreign tourists to Japan.

This year, the JNTO is taking this commitment a step further at the VISIT JAPAN ASIA Travel Mart 2015 due to the rapid increase of travellers from Asia.

Around 250 Asian travel agencies participated in the VISIT JAPAN ASIA Travel Mart.

The Japanese side has many different parties in the travel industry such as local governments, hotels, railway companies, event companies and so on.

"This is my first time to Japan. We had a fam (familiarization) trip in Hokkaido. Because it's Muslim tour in Hokkaido. Then it's not so difficult to get Muslim meals. So, next time no need to bring in from Malaysia here the meals. You can get everywhere here. I'm very glad," said Ikram Dato Khalid, Director, Dakna Travel and Tours.

Hokkaido, the north end of Japan is popular as ski area for tourists. The area turns more beautiful during the summer season

"The most popular places in Japan are Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Mt. Fuji. So, many foreign travellers visit those areas. But Japan has more. We want them to visit more local areas from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Please visit Japan repeatedly and enjoy many different aspects of Japan," said Shuichi Kameyama, Executive Director, Inbound Promotion Department, Japan National Tourism Organization.
