Japan's Yamato Transport Company takes every possible measure to deliver goods safely to its customers.

At its research institute for packing technology, the company carries out a variety of packing tests.

In the compression test, the strength of the box is tested against the weight. In the drop test, the height to break a box is checked. In the vibration test, boxes are placed on a facility which vibrates at low and high speed.

The company has recently developed "magic wrapping cloth" to deliver fragile machines, such as printers and computers.

"Every day we are working on research and development for safe delivery of goods to our customers," said Masahiro Saika of the packing technology institute.

It's not just about the safe delivery of goods.

Japan has the technology to ensure safe travel for train passengers.

The Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Company has developed a "platform safety system" to prevent collisions and fall accidents on railway platforms.

The system has been installed at over 100 stations in Japan and has succeeded in reducing the number of accidents.

Kyosan is now looking at venturing into the international market.

"Railways are expanding in foreign countries, so expansion of the safety system globally is definitely a goal," said Masahiro Yamaguchi, a developer at Kyosan.

He further said: "In fact, we have already received orders from a foreign company."

Countries like India, where metro train services are expanding rapidly, can take advantage of Japanese technology for the safety of its passengers.
