Jared Leto, who took home a best supporting actor Oscar from the 2014 Academy Awards, is courting controversy after saying that Jennifer Lawrence's tendency to fall over in public places is "a bit of an act."

The 42-year-old actor told Access Hollywood while explaining the moment during the ceremony, when Lawrence was heard saying: 'Why are you laughing? What, is this funny? I'm still watching you!'

He said that the comments were directed towards him and his family, News.com.au reported.

Leto said what Lawrence didn't know was that Ellen DeGenres was on the side making, pantomiming [motions like], 'Don't fall, don't fall,' and his mother and brother were all cracking up.

He joked that he believed that they didn't have any manners.
