Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jaswant Singh on Monday dared the party to expel him after he filed his nomination papers for parliamentary polls as an independent candidate.

Singh, who served as foreign minister and finance minister during the BJP-led government from 1998-2004, filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate from his home town Barmer in Rajasthan after the party denied him a ticket to contest.

A section of media reported that Singh might be expelled from the party if he doesn't withdraw from the fray.

"I don't understand why party is waiting for the last day? It conveyed to me on 21st (March) that I am not party's candidate," Singh said in Barmer.

Earlier, he had said that party chief Rajnath Singh and Rajasthan's Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, betrayed him.

"It reminds me of 1975. There is arrogance and there is lesser tendency to take everybody along with it. It is dangerous path. It is better to change the course," he added.
