Blaming the Manohar Lal Khattar-led Haryana Government for the loss incurred during the previous Jat agitation, the Congress on Sunday hoped the ruling BJP in the state chalks out a plan and resolves the issue peacefully this time.
"Whatever happened last time during the Jat agitation was saddening and unfortunate. Haryana was affected by the unrest, this time they don't have one reason to protest. Despite reservation, they are demanding withdrawal of cases against them and compensation for loss incurred during the last agitation," Congress' Haryana president Ashok Tanwar told ANI.
"What ever happened last time was due to immaturity of the government. It showed that the government was inexperienced. The government did not take it seriously. I will request the protestors not to disturb the law and order and work constitutionally. We want the government and Jats arrive at a solution this time so that peace is restored in the state," he added.
Meanwhile, the Jat agitation in Haryana is going on peacefully. No untoward incident has been reported so far. The rail and road traffic is running as usual.
As a precautionary measure, the state is on high alert.
Haryana ADGP (Law and Order) Mohammed Akil had earlier said that peaceful demonstrations have been allowed at places earmarked by the administration. He said that protests are not allowed at places where prior permission was not sought.
