Jawahar Chavda quits Congress, joins BJP

Just a few months ahead of the LokSabha elections, JawaharChavda on Friday quit the Congress party to join the BJP in Gandhinagar.

Chavda had tendered his resignation to Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi earlier in the day.

Last month, another Congress leader Asha Patel had resigned from the party.

On February 2, Patel, an MLA from Unjha, had resigned as a member of the state assembly by handing over her resignation to Trivedi.

Meanwhile, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) chief Hardik Patel is gearing up to join the Congress party on March 12 and will be contesting in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Jamnagar constituency in Gujarat.
