Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Tuesday demanded Rs 25,912 crores as assistance from the Centre for relief and restoration efforts related to the rain and flood damages in the state.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, she said the rains during the North East monsoon this year have caused enormous devastation to the standing crops, property and public infrastructure besides loss of livelihood, loss of lives and cattle.
She also requested for immediate on account release of Rs 2000 crores from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), to enable the State Government to sustain the restoration works.
