Jayalalithaa takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM for a fifth time

AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Saturday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for a fifth time here at a function organised at the Madras University Centenary Hall amid tight security arrangements.

State Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath of office and secrecy to Jayalalithaa, along with 28 ministers who will form her Cabinet.

All the incumbent ministers, barring M S M Anandan and Senthur Pandiyan, have been retained in the new Cabinet.

Earlier, thousands of people thronged the entire route from Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence to the Madras University Centenary Hall to catch a glimpse of their 'Amma'. Supporters were seen waving AIADMK flags and chanting 'Amma, Amma' outside the Madras University campus.

 

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and former BCCI president N Srinivasan were among those who attended the swearing-in ceremony.
