Jayaprada describes Rani Chennamma performance as memorable

Multilingual actress and Member of Parliament Jayaprada said her performance as Rani Chennamma was memorable.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the Kannada Rajyotsava programme organized by the Delhi Karnataka Sangha here on Sunday.

"I have always dreamt of performing the role of Kittur Rani Chennamma, who fought against the British, and every time, I bow at her statue installed in the premises of Parliament House for her blessings," Jayaprada said.

She also remembered her film career association with Dr. Raj Kumar, and her cordial relations with the people of Karnataka through the medium of films.

During the function, Vinayaka Ram from the Films Division of Suvarna TV presented 'The Best Supporting Actress award' to Jayaprada for her role of Rani Chennamma in the Kannada film 'Kranti veera Sangolli Rayanna'.

 

International Marathon runner Mala Honnatti was honoured with 'Vishishta Kannadiga'award by the Delhi Karnataka Sangha.

Kannada film 'Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna' was shown with the cooperation of Karnataka Information Centre. The producer of the film Anand Appugol was felicitated by the Sangha.

Member of the Rajya Sabha Amar Singh, and Chairman of HUDCO V.P.Baligar were also present as chief guests.

Famous theatre artist and Rajya Sabha member B. Jayashree presided over the function. Present at the function, were the President of the Delhi Karnataka Sangha, Vasanth Shetty Bellare, treasurer Avanindranath and General Secretary Nagaraj.
