Jennifer Lopez was honoured with Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media awards in Los Angeles, for promoting gay rights, on Saturday.
Paying tribute to her GLBT (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) fans, the 44-year-old actress said that she feels like her dream has come true if she does anything that makes even one child feel empowered, BBC News reported.
The singer was also recognised for her role as executive producer on US drama series 'The Fosters,' based on a lesbian couple.
The Vanguard award has been previously bestowed upon Cher, Liza Minnelli and Dame Elizabeth Taylor.
