Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani hailed the move to replace the collegium system of appointing Supreme Court and High Court judges.
Speaking to ANI, Jethmalani said, "There are some loopholes in the present system which need to be mended. I think the best way to do this is to have a judicial commission" He also pointed out that a national judicial commission has been successful in Australia and New Zealand.
He further added that he did not understand why CJI RM Lodha was upset by this turn of events, saying that India is a democracy which advocates freedom of speech.
