Jharkhand: 48% polling recorded in first six hours

A total of 217 candidates, including 16 women, are in the fray for this phase and voting is going on under tight security

Around 48% voting was recorded in the first six hours in Jharkhand in the fourth phase of the assembly polls on Sunday.

While a maximum 57% electorate exercised their franchise in Chandankyari assembly segment of Bokaro district, a minimum 33% votes have been cast in Bokaro constituency.

A young voter, Unnati, said corruption was the main issue for her.

"Corruption is the main problem. I want a government which can end corruption and solve the problems of the local people," she said in Dhanbad.

Another voter, Kumar Gaurav, said he was voting for a leader who could provide them development.

 

"We are voting for a government in Jharkhand but also a local leader who can bring development to his constituency," he said.

The polling today was held for 15 assembly segments spread over four districts of Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih and Deoghar.
