Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has imposed a ban on the sale of thermocol plates in the entire state to promote leaf plates.
Das, who was on two-day visit to West Singhbhum district, including naxal-affected Saranda, made the announcement yesterday on the concluding day of his visit.
He said that it would help to generate employment for the poor and the tribals, who are engaged in making leaf plates.
The Chief Minister also announced Rs 1 lakh award to villages in the state that become alcohol-free.
