The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) legislature unit in Jharkhand is meeting here on Friday to elect its leader in the presence of the party's two central observers -J P Nadda and Vinay Sahastrabuddhe.
Both arrived in Ranchi last night to oversee the election.
BJP state unit spokesman Ajay Maroo was quoted, as saying that apart from the two central observers, the BJP's in-charge for Jharkhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat, state unit president Ravindra Rai, and former chief minister Arjun Munda will attend the meeting.
Maroo further revealed that after the meeting and further consultations with the newly elected MLAs, the central observers will apprise the party's national leadership about the outcome of the meeting.
Front-runners for the chief ministership, Raghuvar Das and Saryu Roy, said that the decision of the party's top leaders will be accepted by all.
The BJP and its ally, the All Jharkhand Students Union, bagged 42 seats in the 81 member assembly in the just concluded elections.
