An advocate representing Suraj Pancholi, Samir Khan, said that his client would be produced before a court on Thursday after a day in police custody.

"The matter is under Section 306 and they have sent him under police custody for one day. He would again be presented in court on June 13. The matter is sub-judice and we cannot make any more comments until the charge sheet is filed," said Khan.

Earlier, police in Mumbai had detained Suraj Pancholi, who is the son of seasoned Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi and actress Zarina Wahab, after he was accused by the family of deceased actress Jiah Khan, for being the reason for her death.

Bollywood actress Jiah Khan was found dead at her home in Mumbai, police said on June 4.

Khan, 25, was found hanging.

Her family released a letter, which they claim to be the actress' suicide note. In the note Khan, without naming anyone, has blamed her turbulent love life as the reason for her death.

Police officials had recently questioned Pancholi, to whom Khan had made her last phone call.

Khan, whose real name was Nafisa Khan, was born in New York and grew up in London. Her website said she went to New York to study acting at the Lee Strasberg's Institute.

Khan made her Bollywood debut in 2007 with Ram Gopal Varma's "Nishabd", playing the 18-year-old female lead opposite Amitabh Bachchan, in a film loosely based on Vladimir Nabokov's classic novel "Lolita".
