A bride was shot dead at her wedding venue in Bhopal by her jilted lover who accused her of cheating him, local police said.
Jaishri Namdeo, a paediatrician, was shot dead in Bhopal city on Thursday when she was standing on stage with the groom accepting wishes from guests.
"At 11.15 pm, the bride and groom were meeting guests on the stage, when Anurag Singh, the accused, came to meet them and shot the bride near her neck," said Arvind Saxena, the superintendent of police in Madhya Pradesh.
"She was immediately brought to a hospital where she was declared dead," Saxena added.
The police superintendent said Singh was taken into custody, where he told police Jaishiri had cheated on him.
"The accused, Anurag Singh, has been taken into custody and the weapon used by him has also been taken into custody," said Saxena.
The brides' relatives allegedly beat Singh before handing him to police.
