Jim Carrey, whose good deed took a wrong turn, has recently apologised for posting the photo of an autistic boy without permission in his anti-vaccination Twitter rant.

Making an apology, the 53-year-old actor tweeted, "I'd like to apologise to the Echols family and others for posting a pic of their kids w/o permission. I didn't mean to cause them distress," reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Previously, 'The Mask' star had used the image as part of a series of tweets he posted against a California law that removes personal-belief exemptions for child immunisations.

Reacting to his tweet, Karen Echols, the mother of the boy, wrote back to the actor telling him to remove the photo.
