Wildlife authorities of Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand launched night patrolling inside the premises to curb poaching and smuggling activities during monsoon.

The authorities have commenced 'monsoon operation' as a preventive measure against poachers. They have also closed primary routes of the national park for four months during monsoons, as it becomes dangerous for tourists.

Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve, Sameer Sinha, said adequate staff members have been deployed to keep a strict vigil.

"During monsoon season we try that people with wrong intentions like poachers and illegal traders do not enter our territory. We increase security on main routes during this season and we also deployed adequate number of staff members at checkpoints inside the premises," said Sinha.

The two primary zones, 'Dhikala' and 'Bijrani', have been completely restricted from any tourist activity. The main routes of national park include hilly areas and grasslands, which become unsafe for tourists to travel during rains.

Meanwhile, monsoon has also affects business of local businessmen who are completely dependent on tourists.
