JK Rowling, who recently faced a stream of brutal comments on Twitter which she feels was from the supporters of the Scottish National Party (SNP), believes in standing up to the bullies.

The 'Harry Potter' author said that she reacted after the attacks had crossed her "personal line," The Guardian reported.

Rowling's 4 million followers offered their support when she spoke out about the malicious online abuse allegedly from SNP supporters.

Several twitter users have been blocked by the site after calling the writer "traitor to Scotland", "Blairite scum" and "an arch-unionist propagandist, feeding a river of hatred".
