The Sub Inspector of Surajkund police station has been suspended on Friday for showing negligence in the Jawaharlal Nehru students attack case.

The confirmation was given by Faridabad Commissioner of Police Hanif Qureshi.

A JNU student was allegedly molested and her six male friends were allegedly assaulted for at least two hours after a group of over half-a-dozen unknown men held them hostage at a lake in Asola sanctuary in Surajkund area of Faridabad, police said yesterday.

The crime took place on August 14 evening when the 27-year-old student along with her friends had gone there on a trip.

According to reports, when the students went to police in Faridabad, the officer at Surajkund police station refused to file complaint and also made remarks at woman's character.

The Sub-Inspector posted at Surajkund police station was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty for not registering a FIR in a case.
